We celebrated part of our 20th year anniversary by staying our first night of our Brazil trip at the Copacabana Palace hotel in Rio de Janeiro
The Copacabana Palace has been on my radar for the longest time. I have read so many wonderful reviews that I had to give it a try while staying in Rio. The Hotel is an icon of Rio and has an elegant feel and mischievous feel. The old-world lobby, its fine restaurants and that “See and be seen” at the pool create and un forgettable vibe. The hotel has so much history that they even offer a tour around the hotel. From presidents to Celebrities this hotel has hosted them all. They offer so many amenities from a tennis court to theatre to name a few.
One thing I used to make our stay unforgettable, I used my Amex platinum card and booked directly through them since you get many perks such as early check in/late check out 4pm/ room upgrade/free breakfast and $100 credit to be spent in the hotel.
We flew from Washington dc to Rio via Copa Airlines. We arrived at 8:00 am to Rio and were picked up by Rio Taxi and Transfer. We arrived quite early to the hotel. From your arrival time you are greeted with a smile and taken to the reception desk where they offer a welcome drink. They informed us that that our room would be ready within an hour, amazing our room would be ready by 10:00am!! We headed to get breakfast which was located at the restaurant Pergula. Breakfast here is called “Café da Manha” and from my understanding it’s the best in all of Rio. There is an indoor area where the breakfast is located and an outside, located by the edge of the pool. We choose outside and did not regret it. To say breakfast was amazing would be an understatement. They offered all types of pastries all baked in house. There were so many options from specialty cheeses to exotic fruits. We just relaxed and let time go by as we enjoyed our coffee in Rio de Janeiro.
Just as promised the bell boy stopped by our table and let us know our room was ready. We finished our breakfast and soon after headed to our room. Our room had was oozing a retro comfort and style with muted colors and the best part was the ocean view overlooking Copacabana beach. They provided several gifts such as champagne, Brazilian pastries, flip flops for the beach and post cards.
We spent the rest of the day chilling by the pool and enjoying the live music as we sipped caipirinhas.
For dinner we opted to go to 1 of their 2 fine dining restaurants with Michelin stars. We choose Mee Restaurant for its Pan-Asian food, and we were not disappointed. Eating here was quite the experience and not to be missed. The menu showcased an array of Asian delicacies that were not just impeccably prepared but also exuded originality in their flavors and presentation. Each dish was a symphony of taste, offering a delightful exploration of Asian cuisine.
After dinner we explored the hotel and what a magical experience. The Hotel comes to life after dark and its worth exploring.
The next day we did our checkout as we were headed to Armação dos Búzios.
I was so impressed with the level of service and detail which helped make our stay unforgettable that I am planning to bring our son next time to experience this iconic and magical hotel in Rio de Janiero.
