I was Hosting for the first time the Hispanic Heritage Celebration at Westfield Wheaton Mall this past Saturday, October 9, 2021 and it was such a wonderful experience.  I am Colombian and not only I was representing my own country but I was also there to celebrate our culture and traditions so far from home for all Latinos and Hispanics living in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. I was invited to be part of this special event by ArmandHugon who put it all together, I was beyond excited to share this day with a group of amazing talents of the DMV that were gathered on this day to enjoy an afternoon of great dancing, singing, and entertainment.

I must say I am a 200% Colombian because you really get to appreciate where you come from when you are actually not living in your country anymore, but more than ever I am proud to be a Hispanic living in the United States. This land that seemed so far away growing up as a child, it is now my new home and I am beyond happy to be able to celebrate my diversity and feel welcome at the same time in days like this one. As an immigrant it is very hard to get ahead in this country without putting the due amount of hard work, perseverance and dedication, so you can become that person you dreamed of becoming in the land of opportunities!

I am sharing with you some photos of this warm event that had the goal of making everyone feel welcome, included, and appreciated. It is a reminder that we are all equals and there must be appreciation in our differences which makes better as human beings and learn from each other no matter your skin color, race or ethnicity we all have the right to be treated with respect and dignity. Thank you to the organizers for inviting me, Westfield Wheaton for taking the time to put it all together and all of our community who came to support and have a good time with gifts, music and us!
